Systemic Disease and the eye

Attached is an image illustrating a branch vein occlusion secondary to systemic vascular disease. This patient did not have any visual symptoms but had an vein occlusion (stroke in the eye). The cause of this hemmorrhage is uncontrolled high blood pressure versus isolated eye disease. This case needs to be managed with an internal medicine or primary care doctor. The patient will be followed for secondary glaucoma and for macular edema because of the bleed.
